Cooking for Friends and Relatives

As I write this evening it is the end of a relaxing few days off work – just enjoying not being in the office for a while.

Saturday was a very busy day as I cooked a 3 course Greek meal and served it to my closest family and friends – namely: my parents, Corrie, Jody, and of course my best friend Anne-Marie.

I was up at the crack of dawn baking bread – making a delicious honey cake (a bit like a cheesecake) – and then making my own gouvetsi (a sort of beef stew).

It was a very enjoyable day and I had great company with me to help eat the food.

There’s plenty of leftovers so I’ll be living on those for much of the next week (not that I’m complaining).

It tired me out so I fell asleep on the sofa in front of the fire fairly soon after everyone left and I slept well last night!

If that’s what hosting guests for dinner does, I’ll have to do more of it! I’ve got enough friends that I count amongst my list of ‘closest friends’ that I would love to invite over, that if I have one person over each month throughout 2022, each one can come twice in the year. Plenty of company for me, without overloading friends with “too much Fred”.

Good night all!

FH.
