Jam First: A Cornish Cream Tea

Afterwards we drove to Morwenstow – the highlight of our day, a Cornish cream tea at the Rectory Tea Rooms. A lovely setting for a Cornish cream tea; the smell of fresh baked food hits you when you enter the building, a very traditional looking farm house. From where I was sitting I could look straight in to the farm house kitchen, watching freshly baked scones coming out of the oven. Continue reading

Bodmin Jail, Jamaica Inn and the Dark Heart of Cornwall

It is also slightly further North than Copenhagen, and the Southern tip of Sweden! Sitting on the English-Scottish border it has passed between England and Scotland a number of times – most recently transferring back to England in 1482. Listening to people on the street, they sounded more Scottish than Geordie to me. Continue reading

A Tour of the Scottish Parliament

The Scottish Parliament building is very impressive, and very modern – especially compared to the Houses of Parliament at Westminster. We had a very knowledgeable guide who not only talked about how the Scottish Parliament works, but also talked about the history of Parliament in Scotland – what lead to Devolution, etc. Continue reading
