We are now in the run up to Christmas 2010, meaning that it will soon be 2011.
On Saturday (7 August), we drove East to a town on the other side of Chania. Lake Kournas (Λίμνι Κουρνά) is Crete’s only freshwater lake, and isn’t very far from the border with the county of Rethymno (Νόμος Ρεθύμνου).
Elafonisi (Ελαφονήσι) is a beach located in the Municipality of Innachorio (Δήμος Ινναχωρίου) on the South West corner of Crete; its quite a long drive from Kamisiana, but there are a couple of good places to stop at along the… Continue reading
Last Wednesday (4 August) was the first day with the car, and we spent it at the beach. From Kamisiana we drove West on the old road to the beach at Falassarna (Φαλάσαρνα).
Car rental is available on Crete, and for 5 days during the second week of our holiday we rented one. We rent a car most holidays during the second week, and we’ll usually spend some days not going too far… Continue reading
One of the excursions which Olympic Holidays offer is called ‘A Taste of Crete’. It runs on a Sunday, and gives guests the chance to find out about the ingredients used in Greek or Cretan dishes.
If you haven’t guessed already, Kamisiana definatley is not the village for nightlife. You’re in an area where the main income is farming, not tourism. This is a good thing – you’re in ‘Greek Greece’ not ‘English Greece’ – so… Continue reading
I have returned from my annual holiday to Greece. As I mentioned before leaving, this year we went to Crete (Κρήτη), the largest and Southernmost island of Greece.
