Lefkada

It was cooler today; clouds had taken over and we even had a couple of short, light rain showers. Just as I was drying off after a swim and thinking it was time for another, it rained a little and cooled me down.

After swimming a couple of times in the Ionian’s turquoise waters we went for a walk along the road. The beach is actually quite long so there are several places you can go to get away from people if you want a quiet bit of beach.

The centre of the village is entirely pedestrianised. The bus dropped us by the main road close to the barrier. We wandered down the main street, past all the tavernas, bars and cafés. At the bottom we found the main beach. By the time we arrived it was lunch time so we found a café to get something to eat and drink.

Dessimi/Δεσίμη was our chosen beach for the day, just a short drive towards the South. The beach has a couple of trees towards the back, lots of little boats and a café serving hot dogs, pita gyros and drinks just off the beach.

After breakfast this morning we checked out of the hotel, leaving our luggage in their store room to collect later. We headed down on to the Underground to go and spend our last morning in Central Athens.

This morning after breakfast we took the bus from Lygia in to Lefkada/Λευκάδα, the main town on the island near the bridge which connects the island to the mainland.

Holiday time again! This year we’re staying for the first time in Lefkada/Λευκάδα. For the next 2 weeks we’ll stay in an apartment in Lygia/Λυγιά, which lies on the East coast of Lefkada, opposite the mainland.
