Ag. Nikitas

Dad was feeling tired today, and as he’s the only one insured on our rented car we didn’t go out in the car today. Instead, we took the bus. After changing in Lefkada/Λευκάδα we disembarked in Agios Nikitas/Άγιος Νικήτας.

The centre of the village is entirely pedestrianised. The bus dropped us by the main road close to the barrier. We wandered down the main street, past all the tavernas, bars and cafés. At the bottom we found the main beach. By the time we arrived it was lunch time so we found a café to get something to eat and drink.

With the help of an ice cream after lunch we walked along the road to a quiet bit of beach we had seen from the road on the bus. Being August, cars were parked most of the way along the main road heading out of the village, and then again in the part leading up to the beach.

Pefkoulia

The beach we chose was a quiet part of Pefkoulia/Πευκούλια. The turquoise waters of the Ionian made the sea look very inviting and after our 30/40 minute walk out of Agios Nikitas a swim in the sea was welcome.

Later, we made our way back to the bus stop (just past the little beach bar on the main road) and we headed back to Lygia, changing busses at the KTEL terminal.

In the evening we went out for a pizza at the Thalassa pizzeria which also specialised in grilled meat from the spit, gyros, etc.
