Cottage Loaf

After my scones came out of the oven, in went the bread.

Normally I make a cob loaf (a simple round loaf of bread). This time I tried to make it a cottage loaf – by dividing my dough in to 2 pieces, one large and one small, then placing the smaller one on top of the larger one.

Unfortunately by the time it came out of the oven the top half had sunk in to the bottom, so it ended up looking more like a cob.

Tasted good though, with a nice crust (my steam bath trick – placing a roasting tray in the bottom of the oven then filling it with boiling water when I put the bread in – worked very well.

Doesn’t matter what it looks like though, as long as it tastes good it won’t last long!
