Today I made some ginger and treacle scones – A recipe from my National Trust Book of Scones which I bought while visiting Croome in Worcestershire last week.
Love the idea of visiting every National Trust property and having a scone afterwards! I became a member of National Trust Scotland last year, it is worth the money as visits to NTS (and properties across the UK) are free!
They didn’t rise as much as I hoped but they tasted good – quite spicy and something a little different to the usual plain scones I make. I just had mine with butter. Quite simple to make and the dough was easy to work with.
As I am writing this I’ve got a loaf of bread in the oven – but instead of shaping it like a cob I’ve made it in to a cottage loaf. I’ll share the results a little later.
