Next weekend I will be returing to Cirencester‘s twin town, Itzehoe, in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein.
I went a couple of years ago with school, when I was in year 10… and back then we stayed in the Jugendherberge-Itzehoe (now closed down), went to school and visited German people’s houses.
This time, I go with college and we (group of 12) will go for 7 days (Saturday 6/2 to Saturday 13/2) and will stay for the whole week with a family and Monday to Friday we will be doing work experience at local schools – I have got the Kindertagesstätte Tegelhörn.
But there will also be time for: lessons at the Sophie-Scholl Gymnasium (grammar school); an evening of bowling; a trip to Hamburg; and something else to do with the town hall (not sure what that is – the programm is all in German, and “Ständesall des Historischen Rathauses” is a sentence I only understand half of).
I’m not going to say much more about the trip for now… you’ll have to wait until I’ve actually been! I am in the process of setting up my mobile phone to be able to update my website whilst in Germany.
