A Tour of the Scottish Parliament

The Scottish Parliament building is very impressive, and very modern – especially compared to the Houses of Parliament at Westminster. We had a very knowledgeable guide who not only talked about how the Scottish Parliament works, but also talked about the history of Parliament in Scotland – what lead to Devolution, etc. Continue reading

The Museum, the Mill and Michael (the Cat)…

My destination was Selkirk, where I would be visiting the Lochcarron Tartan Mill for a guided tour. It was a very interesting tour – I learn all about how Tartan is woven, how it is designed, the difference between Ancient, Modern and Weathered colours (our own family tartans have 2 versions – Ancient and Modern). Driving to Stirling: Motorways, Farm Shops, Castles and Ice Cream Parlours

It was a full day of driving – with almost 400 miles to cover. I broke the journey up with several stops – This was really good as it made the day really enjoyable. Somehow, the worst traffic I had all day was at Birdlip on the A417, before I’d even left Gloucestershire! Continue reading

The Scenic Route

From Ettrick Bay I could see that there was a wildfire burning right here on Bute! I am surprised there are so many wildfires in Scotland at this time of year. I’m Walking On Sunshine

The sunny weather is continuing here on Bute and, while the day started off cold and windy, once the wind died down to nothing, it became quite warm, with my car registering 18.5 degrees this afternoon. I’m in the part of Scotland which will have the best of the sunny weather over the next few days too. Hooray! Continue reading

Room With A View: I’m Now On the Isle of Bute

The weather today was really sunny but with a cold North Easterly breeze bringing in polar air. A case of wrap up warm. But in those moments where either the wind drops, or you get out of the wind, it’s actually really hot. Continue reading

Cycling Great Cumbrae

After 3 miles I arrived at Fintry Bay where there is a lovely little cafe serving ice creams, food, drinks. Perfect opportunity for refreshments. Continue reading

Comedy in Glasgow
