Brugge – City Centre
I checked out of the hotel this morning and went in to the City Centre of Brugge by bus. Wandered around the city and its narrow streets, over lots of bridges (thats what its name means).

I walked down Hamburg’s famous Mönckebergstrasse, the big shopping street in the city. From the station it leads down towards the Rathaus – passing many Christmas Market stalls on the way.
My day trip for today was to the nearby city of Rostock – the biggest city in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, located at the mouth of the Warnow river.
After breakfast at the hotel this morning, I headed in to Schwerin’s City Centre and walked through the Altstadt (old town) to the Schweriner Schloß.
After a day of travelling, I have safely arrived in Schwerin – the capital and second largest city of the Federal State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. My hotel room for the weekend is the Hotel “Am Fliederberg”.
Last weekend I went on the latest of my short weekend breaks to Europe. For the second time this year I went to the South West German state of Baden-Württemberg; but this time was to its capital Stuttgart. Continue reading

Last weekend I spent some time in Cirencester’s German twin town of Itzehoe, which is located in the country’s northern most Bundesland (Federal State): Schleswig-Holstein.
Switzerland’s third largest city – Basel – is on the River Rhine where the French, German and Swiss borders all meet.
