He travels the fastest who travels alone

On Saturday, ‘Fred’s Taxi‘ was operational once more, as I had to take Mum and her friend Lou to the Rugby at Twickenham. Afterwards I went on a day trip to Burwash, not far from Hastings, where I visited a National Trust property.

Built in the 1600s, Bateman’s was the home of Rudyard Kipling – author of the Jungle Book, and Just So Stories (amongst others) – from the early 1900s until his death in 1936. It was handed over to the National Trust when his wife died in 1939.

I was impressed with the knowledge and passion for his work the guides inside the house had. The gardens looked lovely especially in the Autumn sunshine.
