Yesterday I had a good day out with Mum – using my Christmas present from Mum & Dad which was 2 tickets to Cadbury World, the chocolate themed tourist attraction based at the Cadbury factory in Bournville.
I wasn’t sure what to expect as it is not a factory tour, but rather it is described by Cadbury World as a “visitor centre”, where visitors can “discover the history, the making and the magic of Cadbury confectionery through a variety of chocolatey zones”.
Designed to be fun, interactive, and informative, it very much made me think of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. (Love that Roald Dahl book). I particularly enjoyed being able to have a go at tempering chocolate. The 4D chocolate adventure was interesting – I’ve never seen a film in 3D before, let alone one where the seats also move making it feel like you’re on a roller coaster or plane. The Cadbury Quest was also quite fun.
Another highlight was the advertising zone, where screens played videos of historic Cadbury adverts – we also caught a glimpse of the gorilla playing ‘In the Air Tonight’ (that advert was from 2007, didn’t realise it was that long ago); the Bournville Experience was all about the history of the site – how Cadbury was a pioneer in things which we take for granted in our jobs today.
Highly recommended.
We’ve got a load of chocolate to eat our way through now (it’s like Easter all over again).
I’ve put some photos from our day out below.
