I have safely returned home from Scotland now (got back Wednesday 20:15) but not before spending the day at Lake Windemere.
Staying at the motorway services at Tebay was lovely – I had bread and olive oil starter, and steak and chips for main. Then a hot chocolate in my room. My room had a bath too, which I made use of first thing Wednesday morning. Highly reccomend the hotel there.

Leaving Tebay I headed for a National Trust property about 20 minutes drive away. Hill Top was Beatrix Potter’s farmhouse retreat in the Lake District – the inspiration behind many of her books.
This was an interesting place to visit. I also took the opportunity to have lunch beside the lake, and also sat for a couple of hours reading my book (I’m currently reading and enjoying Ungovernable by Simon Hart, former Conservative MP for Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire and who served as Welsh Secretary under Boris, and Chief Whip under Sunak.

Just after 4 I decided it was time to get on the road – apart from a bit of slow traffic on the M6 going past Manchester, I had a clear run all the way back home down the M6, M6 Toll, M42 and M5. I got home just after 20:15.
Feeling refreshed after my week in Scotland – it is just a week and a half until my next holiday to Cyprus.
Have a good weekend,
FH.
