Royal International Air Tattoo: Recording for Radio

RIAT 2019
Fred at RIAT 2019

Last month I spent a day at the annual Royal International Air Tattoo (RIAT) in Fairford – not just to look at all the miltiary planes on display, but also to make a programme for Corinium Radio.

Jamie and I recorded a few interviews, sound effects (the sound of a loud jet taking off is a legal requirement in such a programme) etc. while we were in Fairford and today we met at the studio after my show this morning – then after maybe 3 and a bit hours had passed, we had cobbled together a 45 minute programme.

The programme takes the format of being Jamie presenting his personal relflection on his experiences attending the Air Show. We’ve put in some appropriate music (think Dambusters or Status Quo’s We’re In the Army and that’s pretty much the musical theme throughout the programme).

Throw in to that the interviews we did with pilots, technicians, stall holders at the show, and the result is an interesting – and entertaining – 45 minute programme.

Watch this space for transmission details.
