I’ve rather neglected my blog for almost a month. Bad form! I’ve been extremely busy elsewhere though.
My month of Work Experience at BBC Radio 2 has now come to an end; I’m back at home in Cirencester.
I really enjoyed my time at Radio 2 – I worked with some great people, became an Ebola expert (I did lots of briefing documents on various Ebola stories); and I had the chance to sit in on Chris Evans Breakfast Show and Simon Mayo’s Drivetime Show.
I picked the right day to sit in on Drive: Foodie Thursday! The beetroot brownies he made were really rather tasty. It was fascinating to watch Chris Evans at work – he and his production team really are “at the top of their game”.
Since being back in Cirencester, I’ve started the job search once more. Now I’ve got the “BBC bug”, it’ll be hard to lose it.
This week I spent two days work shadowing at BBC Radio Gloucestershire. I’ve been there several times before, but this has been my first time there to do some real work. I recorded some vox pops in Gloucester yesterday, which were used on the Drivetime programme.
It might take some time to get in to paid work in radio…but I’m sure I will get there eventually.
Corinium Radio: NOW ON AIR!
While I was in London in October, the community radio station where my radio career started – back when I was 13 years old in 2006 – launched full time. Only online to start with, the aim is to eventually get a full time FM license.
And I’m pleased to say that I’ve booked myself in for a weekly show on the station – every Friday morning, from 8am to 10am. Take a listen to my most recent programmes on the Corinium Radio website. My next show is tomorrow morning at the same time.
Time to get planning…
Bye for now.
