Hymn to Liberty

On the way back from Crowle last night Mum had 5 Live on in the car in order to listen to the Euro 2012 Poland v Greece match.

I have absolutely no interest in Football or sport of any kind, so I was plugged in to my iPod, where I currently have quite a lot of Giannis Ploutarhos‘ songs at the moment.

But I did pause the music and take my earphones out when they started to sing the Greek national anthem (‘Hymn to Liberty‘). I recognised the tune straight away. Mum didn’t.

I know all the words as well.

After the anthem had played, I plugged by iPod back in.

Would do you make of the fact that, blue-tacked on to the wardrobe in my halls of residence, is a sheet of paper with a Greek flag along with the words to the Greek national anthem?

FH.
