The organization of the next Corinium Radio broadcast is going well, with the schedule nearly written for July.
We will be broadcasting again from Thursday, 30 June 2011 from 4pm, until; Sunday, 3 July 2011 at 9pm – this is the same weekend as this year’s Cotswold Show, from where we will be doing a couple of live broadcasts over the course of the weekend.
As for me – I will be staying in the studio. I will be on air with the “Welcome Back to Corinium Radio” show, speaking to various team members to get an idea of what programmes they will be making over the weekend. Plus, there will be more editions of the Early Breakfast Show, Music from the Decades and Corinium Radio Reloaded.
Besides broadcasting, I am still the Website Administrator and Studio Technician/Engineer, and will be pressing lots of different buttons on lots of different bits of equipment, in an attempt to keep everyone on air.
There’s still a lot of preperation to be done – fundraising, training sessions, applying for the license and actually making the programmes – before the actual broadcast, so if you think you can help, please do let us know! Come along to our next meeting at the Castle (Cecily Hill in Cirencester) – Wednesday 6 April 2011 at 7pm.
This is of course the 10th broadcast, and for the last 4 broadcasts we have been using an office at the Cirencester Bingham Library as our studio. This year, we’re moving house, and basing ourselves at my current place of education – Cirencester College. The meetings are taking place at the college’s Castle site on Cecily hill (mainly because the college staff who are on the committee are based at the Castle), but I believe the actual studio will be at the main campus on Stroud Road.
While I’m on the subject of college, I’ve now got involved with the brand new student radio station at college – Under the Radar Radio’s aim is to play/promote music made by local people within the college. The first show – 90 minutes with Will and Ben – was broadcast last Friday. My role in this was mainly technical/the producer, but I did record an interview and arrange another. We will be aiming to have a different guest on air each week.
NB: You can only listen to the programmes when logged in to the college network. Sorry if you’re not staff or a student.
Right… I’m back to my radio now. Someone with the same surname as myself is currently broadcasting on BBC Radio 2!
