Bude, Cornwall
A lovely Sunny day was in store for us today, but also quite a chill. It is funny, but when we’re at home I tend to sleep through my alarm and don’t wake up until quite late in the morning. Here, I woke early, was wide awake by the time the 07:00 radio alarm kicked in (tuned to BBC Radio Cornwall), and I was up and dressed when Dad went out fishing about an hour later.
Perhaps I slept better here… My sleep at home tends to be quite broken, waking up during the night, reading a book in the early hours of the morning before sleeping later once I drop back off to sleep. But anyway… I was up early. Dad went fishing.
Once the sun was properly up I went for a walk around Weekstone Farm, meeting the local animals. There’s quite a collection here – ducks and geese run the lakes, there’s also sheep which roam the grounds, some very cheeky goats, and 2 lovely horses who I have made friends with.
Mum and I had planned to go to Tintagel but…it is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. OK: Wednesday then. Plan B? Let’s go to Duckpool, walk along to Sandymouth, and have lunch there. The cafe there is closed now we’re out of season. So: Bude it was. We walked from Northcott Mouth beach along the coastal footpath to Crooklets Beach, just North of Bude, and up to the Sea Swimming Pool.
Definitely a lovely Sunny day! In one of the cafes at Crooklets we had lunch – I had a very tasty Mac & Cheese. It tasted like it had proper cheese in it, not like generic white sauce which some do.
We walked back and had a paddle back at Northcott Mouth beach; I couldn’t feel my feet after that. It was like sticking my feet in a bucket of ice. Remind me not to do that again!! Don’t know what I was expecting – it is November, after all.
I took a load of wonderful photos too. These are beaches we’d normally avoid in the height of Summer, but out of season, Bude’s main beaches are not too bad at all – especially with the tide going out.
Back at Weekstone, after our daily hot tub session, looking up at the sky and admiring the stars, we had a spicy chicken for dinner before settling down to watch last night’s edition of Blue Planet III on the iPlayer.
Nos da,
FH.
