On the Air: March 2026 – A Country Month

From Nashville to the Charts

As we reach the end of March – and the end of Q1 2026 – I am starting something new on this blog. Each month, I will be writing about what has been happening on my radio shows, giving a bit of insight into what I’ve been playing, how the shows have come together, and what’s coming up next.

If you are not a regular listener to the show, you can tune in to my show on Cirencester Radio, every Monday evening (7pm-9pm) and every Saturday morning (9am-11am). All my shows and supporting web content are available on my special Fred On the Radio website – so you can listen back to many years’ worth of my programmes.

My shows tend to follow the same sort of format every week – On Mondays I have a themed hour in the first hour, followed by ‘Relax and Unwind: The Monday Evening Wind-Down‘ in the second hour. Saturdays are more open – a mix of my favourite songs from across the decades alongside regular features: Same Song Different Decade, Country Crossover, and Fred’s Jukebox.

Each month I’ll look back at what’s been on the show, and pick out a favourite track as well.

So with that in mind…..

March 2026

March has very much been a Country month, with the Country to Country (C2C) festival taking place in London. That influence definitely found its way onto my shows, including a full two-hour Country special the day after the festival. That show in particular seemed to strike a chord.

On the Saturday morning, the day I attended the festival, I was live on air prior to travelling to London, and even had people listening in their cars on the way to London for C2C, which was great to hear and exactly what radio is all about.

Alongside that, I really enjoyed putting together my Guitar Heroes show – a chance to focus on some great players and build a show around that idea. It’s always nice when a theme gives you an excuse to bring together songs that might not normally sit next to each other. I enjoy it!

All of March’s shows are available to listen to on demand: www.FredOnTheRadio.uk/2026/03

My Song of the Month

Of all the songs I’ve played this month, my pick is:

Ella Langley – Choosin’ Texas

It’s one I’d liked for a while, but hearing it around C2C meant it became well and truly stuck in my head. It is very catchy!

Upcoming Themes: April 2026

April is already taking shape, and it’s going to be a varied month.

I’ve got another Decades Night lined up – I really enjoyed the ’50s show back in December and the ’60s show earlier this month – along with shows to mark Autism Awareness Week and St George’s Day.

If you’d like to suggest a song for any of these themes, feel free to get in touch.

Monday 6th April
Different Minds, Different Sounds
Marking World Autism Awareness Day (on 2nd April)

Monday 13th April
Stronger Together (Bands and Groups)

Monday 20th April
Decades Night: Seventies Spectacular

Monday 27th April
Made In England
Marking St George’s Day (on 23rd April)

Plus I’ll be live every Saturday – the 4th, 11th, 18th and 25th April – so tune in and enjoy the music.

FH.
