River Thames Walk: Runnymede to Staines

Yesterday I met up with my cousin Charlotte at a National Trust tea room in Runnymede, close to the Thames Path and not far from Windsor.

We walked along the Thames Path from Runnymede to nearby Staines (about 3 miles), enjoying the sights and sounds of the river, admiring all the boats (we wondered which one Rosie and Jim were in).

We found a Greek takeaway – The Greek Souvlaki – in the centre of Staines so had gyros for lunch there which was good (authentically Greek too).

Then we walked back, and enjoyed a scone once at the tea room. I then gave Charlotte a lift back to Egham train station, and I drove back home to Cirencester.

We think next time we should do one of the boat trips that run in the summer from Runneymede to Windsor or even all the way to Hampton Court (though the Hampton Court one is a full day).

So 6 miles walked in total – got home in daylight too – and I had a lovely sleep on the sofa with the cats afterwards!

Today – Sunday – a quieter day. I went for a swim in Cheltenham, did some shopping, recorded my radio show for tomorrow night, and am about to sit on the sofa in front of the TV for a few hours before dinner.

Happy Sunday 🙂
