Bonjour! So Mum arrived in France on Tuesday night and we had quite a good day yesterday.
We first had a bit of a walk around Lectoure in the sunshine. It may not be Summer but in the sunshine surprisingly warm. Doesn’t France look great in the sun? Anywhere does really!

In the afternoon we went for a bit of a drive – I was keen to visit Auch. The modern day capital of the Gers, and traditionally the capital of Gascony.
There’s a large free underground car park in the centre of Auch – but above ground I wasn’t too clear on whether or not I was allowed to park. The sign (see photo to the right) seemed a bit contraditrory. To park or not to park!?!
Parking complications aside, I liked Auch – It was overcast by the afternoon but not too bad – We even sat outside while having lunch. One of those French set menus which was very good and not a bad price either.
There’s a large cathedral in the centre but there was a funeral on…we thought we’d better not gatecrash but I would have liked to walk around the cathedral!

On the way back to Lectoure from Auch we tried to find my Aunt’s house. Liz lives in Réjaumont – a small village near Fleurance. She wasn’t in, but at least we found the house! While parked outside I saved the location in to the car’s sat nav, for future reference.
We stopped at the supermarket in Fleurance on the way back too, to get something for dinner, before returning to the gite for the evening.
FH.
