Comedy on BBC Radio 4

In last week’s edition of Radio Times, there was a letter in Feedback section talking about BBC Radio 4’s ‘Cabin Pressure‘ comedy series.

I have never heard it until now, but the writer was saying how much she was enjoying the series, and questionnning why it is not broadcast in the normal Friday at 18:30 time slot.

Although I have never heard it, I have seen links to it on the BBC Radio 4 website, and being someone who enjoys a lot of the station’s Friday evening comedy, I clicked on to their website to see if any episodes of Cabin Pressure might still be on the iPlayer.

I was in luck – there was one broadcast at 11:30 yesterday morning. I finished listening to it about 15 minutes ago.

I have to say that I was impressed with it – its more of a sit-com rather than another of the ‘here’s our take on the news’ comedies – nothing wrong with them, but there are only so many things you can do with the news!

It seems to be quite silly – this week there was a discussion about how many otters you can get on to a plane, and whilst driving a van two of the characters played that stupid ‘Yellow Car’ game – their conversation about it reminded me of the conversations I frequently have with my sister about the point of it!

My only critisism is that there are only 2 episodes left: while I’m on holiday!
