The Making of Corinium Radio

October is already here, and the Corinium Radio broadcast is now only next month! I was at the commitee meeting today, and would like to share with you some of the programme ideas discussed… and ask if you [readers of this blog] have any suggestions?

Many regular programmes will return to the schedule – my own Music from the Decades returns for the Saturday 9-11 slot. Luke and I play music from the 1950s to today.

The Breakfast Show also returns… with a few adjustments. Friday’s show will be pre-recorded. It will feature music a number of highlights recorded from previous breakfast shows… and will be vaguely presented by me!

Saturday and Sunday will see the more traditional Breakfast radio programme – with several presenters in the studio at any one time, music and live guests from the local area.

Corinium Radio also hope to broadcast a number of specifically targeted programmes; the Rock and Roldie Show will feature Rock ‘n’ Roll music, whilst the Feelgood Factor will feature easy-listening music that you don’t always hear on mainstream radio stations.

Other ideas discussed are involving schools in the broadcast – an excellent way to get younger listeners who want to hear their friends on the radio – as well as covering the local advent festival, and returning to nearby villages to record programmes such as Siddington Folk, which in the summer was recorded by the 4014 Project.

HOWEVER… there are still a number of gaps in the schedule, and the best way of filling them is by contacting members of the public – you – to ask what you want to hear. Remember… this is a community radio station, covering a small Cotswold town. The OfCom license allows us to broadcast the signal within a 5km radius of Cirencester. Cirencester’s local community radio station broadcasts next from 5pm on Thursday 26 November, to 9pm on Sunday 29 November 2009.
