“Wilkommen in Bonn. Köln Bonn.” They were the first words I heard as I stepped off the plane into the airport. Our first job after clearing passkontrolle was to buy tickets for the train (this was easy: “3 karte nach Köln Hauptbahnhof, bitte”) and then we had to get on the right train. The journey was only 15 minutes and our hotel was only around the corner from the central station.
We ate at a Greek resteraunt in a quiet square after reading a guidebook, and then we walked back along the Rhein, and around the Dom. After less than 6 hours here, I have worked out that the WDR radio studios are around the corner from the hotel and station. That explained why the radio signal for WDR 2 was so strong.
Back tomorrow, so I’ll write again tomorrow.
