Heritage Open Days: Tetbury Market House & Police Museum

13. September 2025
Tetbury, Gloucestershire

As the Heritage Open Days weekend continued, on Saturday I drove in to Tetbury where the Market House (the big famous building with the clock tower, right in the middle of Tetbury) was open, with an exhibition inside all about life in Tetbury during the First & Second World Wars.

It was really interesting to see newspaper cuttings from that time, photos taken locally; I’ve included some photos below.

Also on Saturday, the Tetbury Police Museum was open for public viewing (free of charge), also as part of the Heritage Open Days weekend. Slightly worrying, is the information on the website:

β€˜Fred’, one of our prisoners, sleeps it off in one of the cells and should not be woken, as he is known to become violent if disturbed.

I promise I’m not being kept in a police cell in Tetbury……
