I had just 2 choices for “D” in my A-Z: Duisburg in Germany or De Panne in Belgium.
Just a 45 minute drive along the coast from Calais, De Panne is often the first stop I make after disembarkation from a ferry or train at Calais in any continental road trip I make – either for a short stop and a bite to eat before getting on the road again, or I have stayed the odd night on the way too/from Calais.
De Panne is the Southern most coastal town in Belgium, and boasts one of the widest beaches in Belgium. Just a few km from the French border, it is located within the West-Vlaanderen (West Flanders) Province in Belgium’s Flemish speaking region.
