Morwenstow, Cornwall
While Dad was fishing this morning, Mum and I went for a swim at W Club – Leisure Centre & Spa near Bude. We swam in their pool, used the hydrotherapy pool and jaccuzi. It was nice to swim properly (as opposed to paddle in the sea or just sit in the hot tub).
Mum played golf at lunchtime at Holsworthy Golf Club, just a short drive from where we’re staying (owned by the same family). Dad and I sat in the bar with a drink and I had some lunch as well – a ham & cheese panini with chips.
Afterwards we drove to Morwenstow – the highlight of our day, a Cornish cream tea at the Rectory Tea Rooms. A lovely setting for a Cornish cream tea; the smell of fresh baked food hits you when you enter the building, a very traditional looking farm house. From where I was sitting I could look straight in to the farm house kitchen, watching freshly baked scones coming out of the oven.
We had a cream tea each – large, fresh (still warm) scones with jam. Dad and I went for strawberry, Mum chose Rhubarb & Ginger. Mum & Dad had theirs with a pot of tea (served in lovely little tea cups and saucers). I’m not a tea drinker so I had a hot chocolate. The scones were quite large so one scone was enough for me!
It was a very tasty (and filling) cream tea. Highly reccommended.
FH.
