I was riding a lovely Thoroughbred, ex-racing horse. After the ride I gave him a treat which he enjoyed, and also made friends with a lovely young Friesian horse. I was told he bites because he’s young and doesn’t yet have the social skills, but he was okay with me. I think he quite liked me. He gave my hand a good lick and enjoyed a bit of a fuss from me. Occupying 36% of the island, Northern Cyprus as an independent soverign nation is recognised only by Turkey; The Republic of Cyprus, the UN, and the EU, recognise the Republic of Cyprus as having soverignty over the whole island and consider the TRNC as illegal occupation of EU territory. Only a week after holidaying in Scotland and I’m travelling again; not on my own this time but with Mum & Dad. We travelled to Cyprus today. I’ve been to Cyprus a few times before (most recently Spring 2019?) but this is the first time coming all together as a family. Continue reading
Staying at the motorway services at Tebay was lovely – I had bread and olive oil starter, and steak and chips for main. Then a hot chocolate in my room. My room had a bath too, which I made use of first thing Wednesday morning. Highly reccomend the hotel there. Continue reading
From Ettrick Bay I could see that there was a wildfire burning right here on Bute! I am surprised there are so many wildfires in Scotland at this time of year. The largest is in the Galloway Forest in South West Scotland. Other noteable ones include one on Skye and one North of Inverness. Continue reading

The sunny weather is continuing here on Bute and, while the day started off cold and windy, once the wind died down to nothing, it became quite warm, with my car registering 18.5 degrees this afternoon. I’m in the part of Scotland which will have the best of the sunny weather over the next few days too. Hooray! Continue reading
