On Saturday I went to London for my annual visit to the BBC Proms – I’ve been the last few years and love going to the Royal Albert Hall.
This year for the first time my Mum came with me. We had a box booked – just a few seats away from the radio commentary box used by the BBC.
This year we had booked to see a performance of Folk Songs & Dances. I picked it because the programme included a local composer – Ralph Vaughan Williams, who came from Down Ampney, just a short drive from home. Plus Percy Grainger’s arrangement of Country Gardens.

My highlights of the concert were of course Percy Grainger and Vaughan Williams’ Folk Songs from Somerset. The solo trombone was very good – such skill!
After the concert, for lunch we went to Comptoir Libanais, a Lebanese restauraunt close to South Kensington tube station. We had a meze to share which was very tasty.

We drove which made it nice and easy – parking at Imperial College, just a short walk away from the Albert Hall.
Enjoyed the day and will look forward to my next visit.
FH.
