Fred On the Radio (20/04/2026): Decades Night: Seventies Spectacular

πŸ“… Monday 20. April 2026 19:00-21:00
Fred Hart presents this month’s Decades Night: A Seventies Spectacular, celebrating the music of the 1970s across multiple genres. Including 3 ‘Songs for My Best Friend’ and a ’70s edition of the weekly Monday Evening Wind-Down.

π„ŸβƒπŸ’ž A Song for My Best Friend

This week’s song for my core friendship group – for Hannah, Ida, Calum, Anna and Victoria – is Fleetwood Mac – Landslide.

Not every song about change is loud about it. Landslide is one of those quiet reflections on time, growth, and everything that shifts along the way. Sometimes, the people who matter most are the ones who see those changes up close – who stay, who understand, and who grow alongside you.

The song is less about saying it outright, and more about everything that doesn’t need to be said. Alongside it, I also played a couple of personal picks from friends themselves: Simple choices that say just as much in their own way.

πŸ’» Behind the Mic: Choosing the Music

This month’s Behind the Mic blog is all about how I choose the music for my show each week. Building the perfect show is not about playing every single genre, just to tick a box.

From my point of view I am picking songs based on what fits. I try to avoid grouping together all the Country songs in one go, followed by all the Jazz songs. I mix them all up – and decide, based on listening to the songs, what I think works. If a jazz song works next to a rock song, great. If not, I’ll put two or three between them to ease that transition.
