What began as part of a professional role soon became something much more personal, as Jan reflects on the joy of building something meaningful for the community.

Jan shares how community radio was seen as a powerful tool for improving mental wellbeing and strengthening social connections, bringing together people from all walks of life, many of whom would never otherwise have met. She recalls the unique atmosphere of those early broadcasts, and the incredible mix of voices that helped shape the station in its formative years.

Looking back, Jan reflects on the moment the project began to grow beyond its original roots as volunteers took ownership and the station found its own direction, and what it meant to step back and watch something she helped create continue to flourish.

Twenty years on, this is a story of community, connection, and the lasting impact of a project built by and for the people it serves.

🎶 Music Played

Tom Cochrane – Life Is A Highway
The Clash – Train In Vain
Terri Clark – I Wanna Do It All
Florence + the Machine – Dog Days Are Over
Harry Styles – Are You Listening Yet?

𝄟⃝💞 A Song for My Best Friend

For Hannah, Ida, Calum, Anna & Victoria: Holly Humberstone – To Love Somebody
Tiwayo – I’ve Got To Travel Alone
Frank Sinatra – Leaving On a Jet Plane
Cat Stevens – Peace Train
Passenger – Let Her Go
Keith Urban – LOVE IS HARD
Lady A – 747
Zylen – Don’t Need A Map
Fleetwood Mac – Go Your Own Way
Charles Kelley & Maren Morris – Can’t Be Alone Tonight
Robyn Florence & DAVIES – Get Away From It
Bradley Gaskin – Bout Damn Did
Mike Posner – I Went Back to Ibiza
Frank Sinatra – Drinking Again
Kameron Marlowe – No Need For Leavin’
Jet Jurgensmeyer – Nothing On You
Bruno Mars – Cha Cha Cha
Gladys Knight – Midnight Train to Georgia
Stevie Wonder – Higher Ground
Willow Avalon – Easy On The Eyes
Dick Gaughan – Both Sides the Tweed
Dolly Parton – Heartbreaker
Vera Lynn – Bless This House
Flanagan & Allen – Don’t Believe Everything You Dream

From open-road anthems and railbound classics to soulful departures, globe-trotting country and modern tracks full of forward momentum, this week’s playlist is built around the feeling of movement.
