February 2026 19:00-21:00
Fred Hart plays an eclectic music mix with something for everyone, shaped this week around the theme Tuned In, marking Community Radio Week with an evening dedicated to songs about radio, the act of listening, and community.

Radio is explored as a companion, a connector, and a shared cultural space – from DJs calling out into the night, to voices travelling across airwaves, and records first discovered by chance through a local station. The music moves freely between eras and genres, from rock and pop heritage to country, soul, indie and modern songwriting, with radio acting as the thread that ties the music together.

Some tracks reference radio directly and explicitly; others reflect the small towns, communities and emotional landscapes that community radio has long served. Familiar songs sit alongside deeper cuts and unexpected choices, allowing space for nostalgia, reflection and rediscovery without leaning into novelty.

The programme also features a special interview segment with Geoff Carr, recorded as part of Cirencester Radio’s 20th anniversary celebrations, looking back at the station’s earliest days and the role community radio continues to play at the heart of local life.

This edition of Fred On the Radio is both a celebration of Community Radio Week and an invitation to slow down, tune in, and spend an evening with music shaped by voices on the airwaves – past and present.

🎧 Podcast: 20th Anniversary Memories – Geoff Carr

A longer version of Fred’s conversation with Geoff Carr is available as a dedicated podcast episode.

In this interview, Geoff looks back on:

The very first Corinium Radio broadcasts and how the station was set up

Learning radio “by doing”
