So that’s my first Tone Radio show of the academic year done – and what an eventful show it was!

For the first time, the Fred Hart Show now has its own dedicated newsreader, in the form of one of the other Radio Production students, (and also one of my housemates), Dan Ayshford. I decided to have a little bit of fun, and last night I came up with a plan to find some sound effects and play them loudly during the bulletin, in order to try and destract him.

The result really was quite funny. Particularly when I had different sound effects during each bulletin – and in some cases sound effects which somehow fitted the stories Dan was reading – such as the sound of sheep going ‘Baa’ as Dan read a story about a goat, some cheers, and some boos, as he read some stories relating to the Conservative Party Conference.

There was also a small section of my show in which the entire building had to be evacuated due to a fire alarm… Blimey, that was dramatic. Half way through a song, the red light in the studio starts flashing and sirens are going off left, right, and center. I jumped out of my seat so quickly and wandered off to see what was going on, but I did this so quickly I forgot to set the computer to Auto mode – and so the Auto DJ kicked in, instead of the songs which were on my playlist!

It was only a short fire alarm: we were back within 5-10 minutes. It did however throw me off course for the rest of the show. That was annoying. But at least I got to have a break from the studio for a bit!

My themed hour this week was all about the Autumn – list of music played below. Next week, Colours!

Tune in on Tuesday 8th October, 2pm to 4pm on Tone Radio.
