Gloucestershire Snow!!!

Global Warming? Complete rubbish!

I’m going to keep this one short, but we had snow in February 2009, which resulted in a week off school or work for many people, and 2 days off for me, once Gloucestershire County Council had run out of grit…

And although I personally wasn’t effected, snow started again in the UK on about December 17th which resulted in many schools having to close in London and the South East of England.

There was a little bit of snow in Cirencester on December 20th (overnight), and on the way home from Worcestershire on December 23rd there was heavy snow on the M5… with another little bit again on January 1st (evening).

However, Gloucestershire has again been hit hard this afternoon. Snow started falling as early as 11am in some places – and at about 12:25pm here in Cirencester. By that time, I was in the middle of a 2.75 hour break and so had arrived home from college – which then closed at 1pm… lucky I decided to log in to my Twitter account, otherwise I’d probably have left home for my afternoon Music Tech lesson without any knowledge of the fact no one would be there!

That means, that almost exactly 1 year after the last time I had an unplanned day off, Cirencester is now under snow for the 4th time, and some areas in Gloucestershire under snow for the 5th time in 11 months! And with the worst of the snow still to come, college will be closed again tomorrow. (Secretly, 😀 but many people will be :()

If you’re unsure as to where you can get information, check the BBC Radio Gloucestershire website for updates, and make sure you listen to BBC Radio Gloucestershire either before and during your journey through the county. You can also tune in on your radio – 1413AM (countywide); 104,7FM (in the North of the county); 95,8FM (Cirencester) and 95FM (Stroud).

I’ll try and post again tomorrow and let you know how I’m getting on in the snow.
