Sunny Day on Guernsey

Evening all from the Channel Islands. I’m writing this evening after my first day staying on Guernsey.

This morning I went to the German Occupation Museum, a fascinating way to learn about the German occupation of the Channel Islands during the second world war.

After that I went to L’Eree Bay, on the island’s South West coast. The Sun had unexpectedly come out today so I made the most of it as I walked around the bay. I was tempted to stay long enough to walk across the causeway to Lihou island but another time I think; I just admired it from the beach instead.

I had lunch in L’Eree too – nothing special, just a meal deal from the supermarket this morning (where someone spoke to me in French, that confused me).

After lunch I drove in to the main town, St Peter Port, and visited the Guernsey Museum, which is a folklore museum and art gallery, with a tea room. That was very interesting, I particularly enjoyed the interactive display about the local language, Guernésiais.

This evening I drove in to St. Peter Port for dinner and enjoyed a nice pizza.

Getting an early night as I have an early start tomorrow – Need to be checked in for the ferry to Jersey by 6. Going on a bit of a day trip.

Good Night
(Bouanne Niet),
