As 2022 comes to a close, time to look back on what’s happened this year. It has been a year of change – as well as a year of getting “back to normal” post Covid.
January
Started the year with a visit to Bleinheim Palace for their annual festive lights show. I took Corrie and Jody with me on the last day of the show (Jan 3rd) before returning to work the following day.
February
At the start of 2022 I set out on a project: To walk the UK coastal path. I’ve got from Land’s End to the Lizard Point throughout the year. Still loads to do – but that’s plenty of holidays! My walking project started back in February when Corrie and I walked from Land’s End to Porthcurno.
March
Continued my walking over the course of a week, picking up from Porthcurno and finishing in Marazion.
April
As the weather improved I went to quite a few National Trust/English Heritage places in April. One particular highlight though was going to Tintern Abbey, and seeing the bird of prey show there. I loved having the opportunity to hold a buzzard!
May
My first foreign holiday of the year as I drove to Germany to stay with a friend in Itzehoe for a few days. I love driving to Germany as on large parts of the Autobahn there are no speed limits – which means it is perfetly legal to put my foot down and drive at 200km/h (125mph)! It does use up petrol, but I love driving fast in Germany. At that speed I still get overtaken!
June
The weather was lovely so perhaps that’s why there’s nothing on my blog for June at all! At the beginning of the month I went to Brands Hatch to see some racing – I stayed in a lovely little cabin (a trailer converted in to a self catering hut) near Wrotham.
July
A week away in Northern Greece – in Stavros, about 1hr East of Thessaloniki. Amazingly I seem not to have put anything on my blog about it. There’s a gap between June and July where I didn’t publish anything on my blog! While sitting on the beach in Greece, I applied for a new job.
The Commonwealth Games come to England, so one Summers day I drove up to Leamington Spa to watch Commonwealth Bowls. That was actually a lot of fun!
August
Family weekend away in Pembrokeshire – the last as a family of 4! At the end of the month we waved goodbye to Corrie as she left the UK to move to New Zealand for a while. She may be back….in a year or two. Or she might just stay there. Who knows!?!
September
Spent another week in Cornwall, walking from Marazion to the Lizard Point over the course of a week.
Plus…Big News…After working at Plumbase since 2014, I handed in my notice!
October
Started a new job – but here’s not the place to say what. All I will say is that I love what I’m doing and have a great team!
November
Went to see the Christmas Lights switched on in Cirencester.
December
I hit the age of 30 and spent a week in the South of France to celebrate.
For Christmas I enjoyed a visit to the Royal Albert Hall.
After 2022 being quite varied in terms of what I got up to, what will 2023 bring?
