I’m writing this evening a few hours after returning home from family parties/gatherings for the second time in a week.
This weekend was Dad’s side of the family – we went to Dad’s sister’s house to celebrate my Grandfather’s birthday. In the run up to last night, my job was to put together the music. I made 3 disks full of music ranging from Flannagan & Allen and Vera Lynn, to Coldplay and the Killers.
I’m not sure how many people were there last night, but there were still people arriving at past 8pm, nearly 3 hours after I arrived! I did get introduced to a couple of Dad’s cousins… but whether I’ll be able to remember/recognise them at a future event is another matter!
By this stage, you’re probably wondering why I have put a photo of a traffic jam. The answer is… that shows what our journey home was like (minus the darkness)! After leaving London just before 11 this morning, we then sat in a queue on the M25 for over an hour, and then hit another queue only a few miles after clearing the first one 🙁
FYI the first queue was the one caused by an accident by the Clacket Lane Services, which had actually been cleared before we left. After we cleared it, we kept hearing BBC Local Radio traffic reports saying it was getting longer. How does a queue get longer after the accident’s gone!?
We did get home eventually, just after 2:30 this afternoon. Nothing planned now for a few months/years/decades.
